We want the best for your teeth. That's why we have put some information together here to help you the next time you visit our practice. It can also help you understand more about prevention and other dentistry topics.
Proper oral hygiene habits are learned early. From the time your child starts to develop their first teeth they shoud start cleaning them. It is not necessary to buy any specialized dental baby products. Infants who start cutting their first teeth can have their mouths cleaned with a wet washcloth even while bathing. As they continue to grow you can start brushing their teeth for them. Once your toddler can manage a toothbrush (24-30 months), supervised brushing instructions can continue to enforce beneficial habits that last a lifetime. Remember, children under 6 should be supervised at all times as swallowing large amounts of toothpaste can be harmful.
Robert Lustbader DDS recommends a first dentist visit between the ages of 4 and 5, although if you have any concerns about younger children we will be happy to assist you any way we can. Establishing regular visits at a young age has proven to improve the health and stability of adult teeth.

Preventative care: Every 6 months
If you take special care of your teeth and they are in good condition, you should come to see us for a checkup twice a year. If your teeth are predisposed to problems, you should be on the safe side and make an appointment for preventative care regularly.
Our tip: Come in for a consultation and make the next appointment after each visit, we give reminder calls for appointments even if you scheduled 6 months ago.
